  47. Acrobat Readerのインストール方法
  48. =================================
  49. ・Acrobat Readerインストーラアプリケーションをダウンロードしてください。ダウンロードには、ご使用中のブラウザの「リンクを別名で保存」や「ディスクに保存」機能などをご利用ください。

  51. ・インストーラアプリケーションをダブルクリックします。
  52.  
  53. ・インストール中に電子文書の「エンドユーザ使用許諾契約書」が表示されます。契約内容に合意していただいたうえでのみインストールすることができます。

  55. ・画面に表示される指示にしたがって操作します。

  57. ・Adobe AcrobatがNetscape互換のWebブラウザと通信するために「PDFViewer」は必要です。複数のNetscapeのWebブラウザを使用するために「PDFViewer」をNetscapeの「Plug Ins」フォルダに入れてください。

  61. Acrobat Reader インストーラによってインストールされたATMは開発途中ですので、Adobe Acrobat 3.0J の Font フォルダにインストールされています。このATM4.0β版を使用するには、次の手順に従って操作を行ってください。

  63. ・Adobe Acrobat 3.0J の Font フォルダ内のATM4.0β版をコントロールパネル内に移動後、リスタートを行ってください。

  65. Web上におけるPDF書類の表示方法

  67. ・Netscape Navigatorおよび他のNetscape互換のWebブラウザを起動します。
  68. ・Web上にリンクされているファイルをクリックするか、「ファイルを開く」メニューを使用してPDF書類を選択します。
  69. ・Acrobat Readerが自動的に起動し、PDF書類を表示します。

  71. ・ブラウザ内から Acrobat Readerが起動できない場合は、「Acrobat Readerのインストール方法」の項に記されている「PDFViewer」の有無を確認し、指示に従ってインストールしてください。

  79. Acrobat Reader 3.0Jb2ですでに見つかっている問題点には次のようなものがあります。

  82. ・プリント機能に問題が生じた場合、Adobe Printer Driver PSPrint8.3.2J をAdobe のWebサイト　
  83. (www.adobe.com) からダウンロードして、セレクタで選択後、再度プリントしてください。

  85. ・テキスト選択ツールを使った書類内のテキスト選択に、問題が生じる場合があります。
  86. ・複数の書類を同時に表示した場合、各書類内のローマ字の文字間隔が正しく表示されないことがあります。
  87. ・複数の書類を同時に表示し、印刷を連続して行った場合、問題が生じることがあります。
  88. 　ダイアログで「グラフィックスのカラー設定」を「Image Color Matchingを使わずにカラー印刷」に設定してください。
  89. ・非PostScriptプリンタを使用した場合、用紙の上寄りに印刷される場合があります。
  90. ・Webブラウザ内で4MBを超えるファイルを表示しようとすると、問題が生じることがあります。

  156. -  Macintosh computer with 68020 (Macintosh II series) or greater 
  157. processor (including all Power Macintosh computers).

  171. Improving Performance
  172.  
  173. In most cases you can improve the performance of the Acrobat Reader 
  174. by increasing the memory allocated to the Acrobat Reader 
  175. application and/or to Adobe Type Manager. 
  176.  
  177. For Acrobat Reader 3.0:  
  178. 1.     If the Acrobat Reader 3.0 program is running, you must first Quit. 
  179. 2.     From the Finder, select the Acrobat Reader 3.0 program icon. (You must 
  180. select the actual program, not an alias.)
  181. 3.     Choose Get Info from the Finder's File menu.
  182. 4.     Increase the Preferred memory allocated to the Acrobat Reader 3.0 
  183. program. The number you enter is based on the available free memory on 
  184. your system. If you have enough memory, 4500 K (6417 K for PowerMac with 
  185. Virtual Memory turned off) is recommended. Do not change the Minimum size 
  186. setting.
  187.  
  188. For Adobe Type Manager:
  189. 1.     Open the ~ATMｪ Control Panel in the Control Panels folder within the 
  190. System folder or in the Adobe Acrobat 3.0 / Fonts folder if you are using 
  191. a private version of ATM.
  192. 2.     Increase the font cache to 512K or greater.

  203. Installation Issues
  204.  
  205. Viewing PDF Files Within a Web Browser - In order to view PDF files within 
  206. the window of a Web browser (such as Netscape Navigator 3.0), the plug-in 
  207. "PDFViewer" must be placed in the browser's "Plug-ins" folder.  If 
  208. Netscape Navigator 2.0 or later is installed on your computer, the 
  209. installer will place one copy of the "PDFViewer" plug-in in Netscape 
  210. Navigator's "Plug-ins" folder.  The installer will also place a copy of 
  211. "PDFViewer" in the "Web browser plug-in" folder within the "Adobe Acrobat 
  212. 3.0" folder.  
  213.  
  214. If you would like to use the Acrobat Reader with an additional copy of 
  215. Netscape Navigator or another Netscape compatible browser, copy 
  216. "PDFViewer" to its plug-ins folder.  If you have multiple versions of 
  217. Netscape Navigator, be sure that the "Plug-ins" folder associated with the 
  218. version of Netscape you'll be using contains "PDFViewer" version 3.0B13. 
  219. (You can see the version using the Finder's "Get Info" command.)
  220.  
  221. Weblinks Outside of a Web Browser - To access URLs embedded in PDF files 
  222. when using the Acrobat Reader outside of a Web browser, you must specify 
  223. your preferred Web browser in Acrobat Reader's Weblink Preferences 
  224. dialog.  From the Edit menu, choose Preferences/Weblink.../WWWﾊBrowserﾊ
  225. Application.
  226.  
  227. Disk Space Requirements - The installation program calculates disk space 
  228. requirements assuming that none of the software components to be installed 
  229. are already on your system.  If you already have versions of some or all 
  230. of the components then the disk space requirements reported by the 
  231. installation program will be higher than the actual amount used. [118263]
  232.  
  233. PowerMac vs. 680x0 Compatibility - When an installation is performed on a 
  234. PowerMac, the installation program automatically installs a PowerMac-only 
  235. version of the Acrobat Reader; when an installation is performed on a 
  236. 680x0-based Mac then a 68000 version of the Reader is installed.  It is 
  237. not possible to install a "fat binary" version of Acrobat Reader.  This 
  238. may be an issue if you are installing the Acrobat Reader on a hard disk or 
  239. network volume which will be used from both kinds of Macintosh.
  240.  
  241. How Does The Installer Handle Adobe Type Manager (ATM) and Fonts? - If ATM 
  242. is already installed on your computer, the Acrobat 3.0 installer will 
  243. update it with ATM 4.0.
  244.  
  245. If you do not have a version of ATM installed on your computer and you do 
  246. not have QuickDraw GX enabled, the Acrobat 3.0 installer places a copy of 
  247. ATM 4.0 in the Adobe Acrobat 3.0 / Fonts folder. This private copy of ATM 
  248. is recognized and used only by Acrobat Reader 3.0 and uses memory only 
  249. when Acrobat Reader is running.
  250.  
  251. Based on whether QuickDraw GX is enabled or not at the time of 
  252. installation, different versions of the Adobe Acrobat substitution fonts 
  253. Adobe Sans MM and Adobe Serif MM (and perhaps other Type 1 fonts) are 
  254. installed. Later, if QuickDraw GX is either enabled or disabled, you will 
  255. need to re-install Acrobat Reader 3.0.
  256.  
  257. If you install System 7.5 and QuickDraw GX after installing Acrobat 3.0, 
  258. you will need to re-install Acrobat Reader 3.0. The QuickDraw GX 1.0 
  259. installer replaces ATM 4.0 with ATM GX (ATM 3.7), which is not compatible 
  260. with Acrobat Reader 3.0.
  261.  
  262. If TrueType versions of Times, Helvetica, Courier, Symbol, or Zapf 
  263. Dingbats are installed on your system, they are not replaced nor moved. If 
  264. you are using Type 1 versions of these fonts, updated versions of the Type 
  265. 1 fonts Times, Helvetica, Courier, Symbol, and Zapf Dingbats will be 
  266. installed in the appropriate location for your version of System 7.
  267.  
  268. Acrobat Reader Memory Requirements - Memory requirements settings for 
  269. Acrobat Reader 3.0 can be set by selecting the Acrobat Reader 3.0 icon in 
  270. the Finder and choosing Get Info from the File menu. In the Memory 
  271. Requirements section of the dialog, the "factory" default for Minimum size 
  272. is set to 3300 K (5217 K for PowerMac with Virtual Memory turned off) and 
  273. should not be changed. The Preferred memory size is 4500 K  (6417 K for 
  274. PowerMac with Virtual Memory turned off) and may be adjusted as described 
  275. below.
  276.  
  277. If you are using ATM in the Adobe Acrobat 3.0 / Fonts folder, it allocates 
  278. approximately 1000 K of RAM (800K of RAM for 680x0 processors) out of the 
  279. Acrobat Reader 3.0 partition. On a Macintosh with a 680x0 processor, if 
  280. there is not sufficient space or if Virtual Memory is on, ATM attempts to 
  281. allocate RAM from System memory.
  282.  
  283. If you are using system-level ATM on a 680x0-based (non-PowerMac) system 
  284. you can reduce the Preferred size value for Acrobat Reader 3.0 by 800K.
  285.  
  286. Missing Symbol Font - The Acrobat Reader will not run if the fonts in your 
  287. System or System Folder:Fonts folder do not include both Symbol and 
  288. Symbo.  When you open the Acrobat Reader if one or both of these fonts are 
  289. missing you will see the alert "The symbol font must be installed.  Please 
  290. re-install.  Acrobatｪ Reader will now Quit."  To correct this problem, 
  291. remove any existing copies of  Symbol or Symbo from your System fonts, 
  292. reboot your Macintosh, and run the Acrobat Reader installer again.
  293.

  295.  
  296. Web Browser Issues
  297.  
  298. PDFViewer Browser Plug-in -  
  299. Acrobat Reader 3.0 and Netscape Navigator communicate with each other via 
  300. two plug-ins installed by Adobe Acrobat 3.0; one called EWH on the Acrobat 
  301. side in the Adobe Acrobat 3.0 / Plug-Ins folder and one called PDFViewer 
  302. in the Netscape Navigator's Plug-ins folder.  A copy of the PDFViewer 
  303. plug-in is also installed in the Adobe Acrobat 3.0 / Web Browser Plug-in 
  304. folder.
  305.  
  306. For best results, make sure both plug-ins are from the same Acrobat 
  307. release. Opening an Acrobat document from within a copy of Netscape 
  308. Navigator which uses an old version of the "PDFViewer" plug-in may cause 
  309. your browser to crash.   [148104]
  310.  
  311. Using the PDFViewer browser plug-in with a Web browser other than Netscape 
  312. Navigator may cause your browser to crash.
  313.  
  314. Microsoft Internet Explorer -  Microsoft Internet Explorer version 2.0 and 
  315. later for Macintosh has a plug-in folder for Netscape Navigator plug-ins.  
  316. However, Internet Explorer versions 2.0 or 2.1 do not fully support 
  317. PDFViewer (Acrobat's Netscape Navigator plug-in) and may crash when it is 
  318. used.  Rather than using this plug-in, Adobe recommends that users of 
  319. Internet Explorer 2.0 or 2.1 configure the Acrobat Reader as a helper 
  320. application.   [148027]

  327. Movie / Netscape Navigator - When viewing a PDF file in the Navigator 
  328. window, if you click on a movie annotation and there is no movie file on 
  329. the web server the system will crash. [143803]
  330.  
  331. Netscape Navigator 2.0 limitations - Adobe recommends using  Netscape 
  332. Navigator 3.0 or later with Acrobat Reader rather than Netscape Navigator 
  333. 2.x (2.0, 2.0.1, or 2.0.2) for the following reasons:  
  334.  
  335. - When Acrobat Reader is used as a plug-in to Netscape Navigator 2.x, 
  336. using Netscape Navigator's File > Print... menu to print PDF documents 
  337. will cause Navigator to crash; you can print PDF documents using the print 
  338. icon at the left end of the Acrobat toolbar.
  339.  
  340. - When Acrobat Reader is used as a plug-in to Netscape Navigator 2.x on a 
  341. 680x0-based Macintosh, causing Netscape Navigator to go back to a 
  342. previously viewed page while a PDF file is being downloading may cause 
  343. Navigator to crash.
  344.  
  345. - Navigator 2 does not support printing PDF files displayed in HTML frames.
  346.  
  347. - Navigator 2.0J and Acrobat 3.0 will crash when used on KanjiTalk 
  348. systems. [152495]
  349.  
  350. The Acrobat Reader 3.0 installer will install "PDFViewer"  (Acrobat's 
  351. Netscape Navigator plug-in) in the plug-in folder of Netscape Navigator 
  352. 2.0 or later.  If you must use Navigator 2.0, 2.0.1, or 2.0.2 and would 
  353. prefer to use Acrobat Reader as a helper application, be sure to remove 
  354. "PDFViewer" from Navigator's plug-ins folder and then configure the 
  355. Acrobat Reader as a helper application.   
  356.  
  357. Netscape Navigator - 
  358.  
  359. - Printing HTML pages with embedded PDF files will cause Netscape 
  360. Navigator 3.0 to crash the next time the user goes to a different page.

  362.  
  363. - Large PDF files which have not been optimized (i.e. they cannot be 
  364. downloaded a page at a time) may time out while being downloaded over very 
  365. slow transmission lines (slow modems). [143637]
  366.  
  367. - When using Navigator's Back button or Go menu to return to a previously 
  368. viewed PDF document, page 1 of that document may be displayed regardless 
  369. of the page you were last viewing.  This will occur if the entire document 
  370. was not downloaded or if the General Preferences "Allow Background 
  371. Download of Entire File" option was not enabled. [122652]

  373. - Pressing the "end" keyboard shortcut to go to the last page may cause 
  374. Navigator to shift the Acrobat window upwards obscuring a portion of the 
  375. Acrobat toolbar and displaying a second Acrobat status bar. Clicking 
  376. Navigator's Reload button will fix this. [143469]

  378. -Many of the typical Acrobat keyboard navigation accelerators (arrow keys, 
  379. page up/down, home/end) are not always available when viewing PDF files 
  380. within the Netscape Navigator window.  [142844,146972]
  381.  
  382. - When viewing a document which is wider than the browser window and is 
  383. set to "Hide Windows Controls" a horizontal scroll bar appears across the 
  384. bottom of the browser windows after opening the PDF and using the Hand 
  385. tool to scroll left and right. The scrollbar is unusable and the window 
  386. functions as if it didn't exist. [151952]

  388. -The filename extension ".pdf" must be at the end of the PDF file name in 
  389. order to use the drag-and-drop method of opening a PDF file in the 
  390. Netscape Navigator browser. [153245]
  391.  
  392. - To open a PDF file from Navigator's File > Openﾉ command, you need to 
  393. hold down the Option key when opening the dialog to be able to select a 
  394. PDF file from the list; otherwise, only HTML and TEXT files are displayed 
  395. in the Open dialog. [163393]

  397. - Use the Page Setup command in Acrobat Reader to affect the printing of 
  398. PDF documents viewed within Navigator; Navigator's Page Setup dialog has 
  399. no effect when printing PDF files.
  400.  
  401. - Navigator mail enclosures of PDF don't open properly in Navigator.

  404. - "Open File" links and bookmarks to non-PDF files will not work when 
  405. activated while viewing the PDF file in the Netscape Navigator window.

  408. - Using 'marginwidth' and 'marginheight' in the HTML for a frame which 
  409. contains a PDF file results in the PDF file being positioned improperly. 
  410. This is a bug in Navigator that Netscape plans to fix in Navigator 4.0.

  413. With Acrobat Reader 3.0B13, when opening a PDF file from the Web using 
  414. Netscape Navigator you may have to wait until most of the document has 
  415. downloaded for the first page to be displayed if Acrobat's "Allow 
  416. Background Download of Entire File" General Preferences option is enabled; 
  417. this problem only occurs on some Macintosh computers.
  418.  
  419. Netscape Navigator Ignoring First Weblink - After Netscape Navigator 3.0 
  420. is launched it will ignore the very first request from another application 
  421. such as the Acrobat Reader.  Requests which might be ignored include 
  422. clicking clicking on a Weblink in a PDF document, choosing an Acrobat 
  423. Reader help menu item which opens a Web page, or handling returning an FDF 
  424. file in response to an HTML form.  If your request has been ignored make 
  425. the request a second time.  [160925]

  427. Weblink - Weblinks to an invalid URL or secure site do not pass control to 
  428. Navigator. [117258,117346]

  430. Weblink / mailto - Following 'mailto:' links does not bring Navigator to 
  431. the foreground. [149676]

  435. General Issues
  436.  
  437. 4-Color Mode - If the Monitor control panel is set to 4 colors, Acrobat 
  438. Reader uses the system's highlight color in its color palette which 
  439. results in poor color rendering of images. Work around: Increase the 
  440. number of colors available to your computer by selecting the Monitors 
  441. control panel and clicking on a larger number of colors.
  442.  
  443. Continuous View and Notes - Text notes which extend outside (above or 
  444. below) of the page boundary when viewed in Single Page mode may get 
  445. clipped when you switch to Continuous or Continuous - Facing Pages mode. 
  446. Solution: Click on the note to activate it and it will pop to the surface.

  449. Desktop Printing (GX) - If QuickDraw GX is enabled, Acrobat Reader 
  450. requires Desktop Printing to be turned on to print.

  452. Font Not Found - A font not found error may indicate that ATM did not have 
  453. enough memory to create a substitute font. Increase the size of the ATM 
  454. font cache to solve the problem. See the ATM section of this file for 
  455. information on how to increase the memory (font cache) available to ATM.

  457. Mouse Up/Down Actions - It is advised to assign navigational actions (Next 
  458. Page, etc.) to Mouse Up actions, not Mouse Down. This way, the action 
  459. happens when the user releases the mouse button, not immediately when the 
  460. users presses down on the mouse button. [155324]

  462. Movie / Full Screen - When viewing a movie in full-screen mode, hitting 
  463. the Esc key, (which normally causes the movie to stop playing) may instead 
  464. take the user out of full-screen mode. [118431]

  466. OLE plug-in - If you have installed the optional OLE plug-in you can 
  467. incorporate PDF documents in compound documents created with any Object 
  468. Linking and Embedding (OLE) 1.0 or 2.0 container application.  An 
  469. installer for the OLE plug-in can be found on the Acrobat Reader 3.0 
  470. CD-ROM and can redistributed for no charge.  For known problems and issues 
  471. related to OLE see the ReadMe-OLE file installed with the OLE plug-in.

  473. distribution.]

  475. Page Caching - When page caching is enabled, caching is active when there 
  476. is no mouse movement. If you have the zoom-in tool selected and press the 
  477. option key to toggle to zoom-out, you may not see the cursor change until 
  478. you move the mouse, which in effect interrupts page caching.

  480. Password Field - The password field will accept 255 characters, but only 
  481. the first 32 are used. [110590]

  483. PowerBook External Display - Acrobat Reader may not display correctly when 
  484. running on a PowerBook 180 with an external display, mirroring on, and in 
  485. monochrome (1-bit) mode. Solution: Turn off mirroring. Set up the external 
  486. monitor as monitor 2 and make the external monitor the primary monitor by 
  487. dragging the MacOS menu bar to monitor 2 (within the Monitors control 
  488. panel), then restart.

  490. Plug-in Names - If you want to remove plug-ins from the Reader to reduce 
  491. itﾕs memory requirements, refer to the following list of the Reader 
  492. plug-in file names and their functionality:

  501. QuickDraw GX - Acrobat Reader is compatible with QuickDraw GX, but it does 
  502. not use an specific QuickDraw GX features.

  504. - Based on whether QuickDraw GX is enabled or not at the time of 
  505. installing Acrobat Reader, different versions of the Adobe Acrobat 
  506. substitution fonts Adobe Sans MM and Adobe Serif MM (and perhaps other 
  507. Type 1 fonts) are installed. Later, if QuickDraw GX is either enabled or 
  508. disabled, you will need to reinstall Acrobat Reader, using the Easy 
  509. Install option. This will make sure the proper version of the fonts 
  510. required by Acrobat Reader are installed in their proper locations. If you 
  511. install System 7.5 and QuickDraw GX 1.0 after installing Acrobat Reader, 
  512. you will need to re-install  Acrobat Reader. The QuickDraw GX 1.0 
  513. installer unfortunately replaces ATM 4.0 with ATM GX (ATM 3.7), which is 
  514. not compatible with Acrobat Reader.

  516. - N-up printing does not work with the QuickDraw GX PostScript printer

  519. Rotated/Transformed TrueType Fonts - You may encounter some problems with 
  520. displaying or printing rotated or otherwise transformed TrueType fonts. 
  521. This is a limitation of TrueType and QuickDraw.
  522.  
  523. Sound Actions - The playback of sound actions cannot be stopped by the 
  524. user (as opposed to the ability to stop the playback of QuickTime movies 
  525. and sounds by pressing the Esc key). Sound actions can only be stopped by 
  526. playing another sound action. [152859]

  528. TrueType - TrueType fonts cannot be reencoded. Because of this limitation, 
  529. documents that were created using some special characters in a Type 1 font 
  530. that are not accessible if a TrueType version of the same font with the 
  531. same name is installed on your system. When this happens, the error 
  532. message "Some text in the font and character 'FONTNAME ###' could not be 
  533. displayed or printed correctly. The font could not be reencoded." is 
  534. displayed. Since the Acrobat installers do not replace TrueType versions 
  535. of Times, Helvetica, and Courier you may get this message with these 
  536. fonts.

  538. TrueType in Files created on Windows - Files created on Windows and 
  539. containing TrueType fonts may not display or print correctly.  Macintosh 
  540. users may see boxes where characters should be.

  544. Postscript Printing Issues
  545.  
  546. Adobe PSPrinter 8.3.1 PostScript Printer Driver - For best results, we 
  547. recommend you use the PSPrinter 8.3.1 (or later) driver from Adobe. This 
  548. driver can be found in the 'Drivers' folder on the Acrobat Reader 3.0 
  549. CD-ROM.
  550.  
  551. Adobe Type Manager (ATM) - If you are using the private copy of ATM in the 
  552. Adobe Acrobat 3.0 / Fonts folder (i.e. you do not have ATM installed in 
  553. your System's Control Panels folder) background printing is disabled when 
  554. the using PSPrinter or LaserWriter 8.x printer drivers. Background 
  555. printing is still enabled when using the LaserWriter 7.x printer drivers.
  556.  
  557. PostScript Level 2 - If you are printing to a PostScript Level 2 device 
  558. using the Adobe PSPrinter 8.x or Apple LaserWriter 8 printer drivers, you 
  559. need to update the Printer Info after selecting the printer from the 
  560. Chooser in order for the printer driver to recognize the printer supports 
  561. PostScript Level 2. If this is not done, Acrobat Reader will not send 
  562. PostScript Level 2 information to the printer. When properly set up, there 
  563. will be an icon to the left of your printer name in the Chooser. During 
  564. set up, make sure to select the specific PostScript Printer Description 
  565. (PPD) file for your particular printer - do not select the "Generic" PPD 
  566. if at all possible.
  567.  
  568. Print Monitor Setting - PrintMonitor may run out of memory when printing 
  569. PDF files with background printing is turned on. As a precaution against 
  570. this happening, you may want to change PrintMonitor's current memory size. 
  571. To do this, open the Extensions folder within the System Folder. Select 
  572. the PrintMonitor application and select Get Info from the File menu. At 
  573. the bottom of the Get Info window, there is a field under Memory for 
  574. Current Size. Increase this value to 170K or greater; if necessary, try 
  575. increasing it to 256K.
  576.  
  577. Memory Issues - If you encounter problems, such as a "VMerror," printing 
  578. to PostScript Level 1 or 2 printers, it may be because the printer has 
  579. little available memory (for example, a non-upgraded LaserWriter, 
  580. LaserWriter Plus, LaserWriter II NT or NTX). There are two potential 
  581. solutions to this problem: 
  582. (1) In the Preferences dialog (select from the Edit menu) you may choose 
  583. to use  Serif only or Sans only for font substitution. This frees up 
  584. additional memory in the printer and chances are your document will print 
  585. successfully. 
  586. (2) The other option is to purchase more memory for your printer. See the 
  587. ATM READ ME for additional information about printing.
  588.  
  589. Apple Personal LaserWriter NT - If you are using an Apple Personal 
  590. LaserWriter NT printer that has not been upgraded to a Personal 
  591. LaserWriter NTR, Acrobat Reader won't be able to print substitute fonts. 
  592. Contact your Apple dealer for information on upgrading your printer.

  594. QuickDraw GX - If QuickDraw GX is enabled, Acrobat Reader requires Desktop 
  595. Printing to be turned on to print.
